Pastor

Dwight Huffman was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He and his wife Judy served in several church planter and pastoral positions in the United States before moving to Canada in 2000. They were appointed missionaries with the North American Mission Board assigned to the Canadian National Baptist Convention where Dwight served as the National Start Team Leader. Dwight became pastor of Bow Valley Baptist Church July 27, 2009.

Dwight and Judy have two daughters, Amber, age 25, who is working with the International Mission Board as a journeyman and is currently living in the North Africa/Middle East. Ashley, age 22, married to Tim Jakel and living in Airdrie where Ashley is currently a teacher assistant for special needs children and Tim is working as a journeyman electrician.

Minister to Children

Debbie Nelson grew up around San Antonio, Texas and asked Christ to be Saviour and Lord of her life around the age of 10. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Education from Baylor University in 1992 and her Master of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1995. She is a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist and worked in the public school setting from 1993-2001.

Debbie and her husband, Barry, moved to Cochrane in 2003 so that Barry could attend school at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary. Debbie felt God leading her to work in the area of Children’s Ministry in the fall of 2007, but recognizes that God had been preparing her for this ministry for many years. Debbie and Barry have three children: Nate, Stephen, and Sophie.
